Family photo shoot

We got our family photos done this weekend. There is a sneak peak up on my cousin's photo blog. Go check it here. There are some goodies and I can't wait to see the rest of them. The waiting game now begins....

The kids were back at it in the water again this weekend with their swimming lessons. Both of them did fabulous. Carson is getting to be a real pro with going under the water. No tears for this big boy anymore! And Kaytlin did great going under too. Each week she says...'Mama, I don't want to go under this time mmm'kay?' The week before last I told her, 'okay, Mama won't dunk you this time, but next week you're going under okay.' And I kept my word. She went under and although there were about 30 seconds of freak out time she loved it. She really loved it. And to top it off she was swimming all by herself with her lifejacket on. A+ for Kaytlin! You made Mama proud my dear...very proud.

Sunday the kids and I ventured off to church for which we all had a great time and then back home for quick naps before Kaytlin and I headed out to a fashion show. Yes, I know...already! My aunt you know has a modeling biz. Kaytlin was all into it. I am hoping to take her for lessons when she is old enough. I think she will just love it. But if she doesn't that's okay too. In my bias motherly opinion she's total model material. Did you check the pics yet? If not, go now....you will see what I am talking about. That Holly she works her magic!

Well, my muffins are ready to come out of the oven. Yes, little homemaker wifey I am. I try hard you know...really hard. And I work too. Out of the house. It's not an easy path to take that is for sure. But it keeps me sane. And a that my friends makes me a better person.

Does my door bell really not ring?

So the kids and I waited around all morning for the 'glass guy' to show up. Turns out he doesn't know how to use a door bell!?! Not sure what happened there, but we were here. At home. All morning. He showed up and left me a business card in my door. It read....'sorry we missed you, call to arrange another appointment.' What the heck?

I got on my phone like nobody's business. A guy by the name of Brad answers the phone. Awesome. His name is on the left behind business card. Turns out he's not the one who stopped by. I don't know what kinda place these folks are running but first they don't ring my door bell and then they leave some other guys business card. Crazy. Good thing this is a warranty house issue.

So anyways the issue. We have a glass shower in our en suite bath. It's all kinds of wonderful. At least it has been since we first got to use it 3 months after we moved in. Yes, we waited 3 months to use the shower. In our en suite bath. The glass, it was loose in a couple areas so we hesitated before something went wrong. Then it got fixed and we fell in love. It's big and spacious and well just 'spa like'. Love it!

Then...the glass became loose again.

And now we wait again for someone to come and fix it.

The first time it got fixed the guy himself told me....'ya, this shower was never installed properly. The guys who did it no longer work for the company because of jobs like this.' Great. That is just what I wanted to hear. Thank you very much. Nothing like having a shower with glass surrounding you and thinking it might just fall apart.

Okay now, it's not that bad, so don't get all paniky on me just yet. But it could be. That's our concern. Better to get it addressed while we have warranty than when we don't. Cause you all know that is when things happen.

But on a high note I made $33 today. One word. Kijiji. Love. Love. Love. If I could only remember how much I have made off that site in the last few months. It's in the hundreds. For reals. If you haven't tired it you've got to.  Go now...quick!

Getting over it

Last weekend we had lots of things planned. Lots of things that never ended up happening. That's what happens when life happens.

Carson was showing signs of being sick since last Monday. I was sure he was getting a cold and then he seemed like he was getting over it. My guess was wrong. Friday the fever spiked and in the cool bath he went. Tylenol would briefly break his 102-103 temps. Poor thing. That was just the beginning.

It was a long night.

Saturday we had our regular swimming lessons at the local pool planned. 9am sharp. Love those mornings...no, really I do. It's our family time and the bonus is I get some exercise while having some fun getting wet with my little munchkins :) Instead, Carson and I spent 1 1/2 hours waiting in a walk-in office to see a doctor who I had hopes would make my little man better. 1 1/2 hours where Carson sat still. He cuddled and he closed his eyes. Yes, he was sick for sure!

Kaytlin on the other hand went on a Timmy's run with Daddy. She has got him wrapped around her finger already. And who said that Daddy's were to be tough guys? Hers? A total softy. He probably wouldn't admit it. But she totally knows it. She's 3.

Back to the clinic....

We finally see a doctor. The left ear is red and showing signs of leading to an ear infection. Wonderful. This is where we started off back in June if you recall. Then we ended up in the hospital. Oh, and the right tonsil was swollen and red too. Splendid. We got the meds and now he is on the mend. Thank goodness. So now, 5 more days of the grueling torture of administering that yummy stuff. I totally know Carson is counting the days. He loves it that much!

That afternoon we had family pictures scheduled. Evidently they were cancelled too. Boo. So much for my fall pictures that I desperatly wanted. Next year. Next year it will happen.  This year however, we are going to get some fabulous outside and maybe inside pics sans the fall colours that I know are going to be classy. You just wait.

And now Sunday. That day was to be Carson's 1st birthday party. It didn't happen. Now he's going to share his first party with his sisters 3rd. I know he'll never know. I suppose it was a little more for me than him. Oh well. We are still going to party and now it is just going to be twice as fun. Two themes. Two cakes. Two special people to celebrate about.

So here's hoping that this weekend is a little less eventful and that we can somehow manage to keep plans we have made. Life with kids. Totally unpredictable.

Work on the other hand this week was busy. It was full of new experiences and it was full of stressful moments. Tuesday was an easy day. Well as easy as it can be I guess. There is always running. There is always waiting and for some reason there is always something I can't seem to find. Most unorganized office ever! Wednesday however was full. Jammed packed full. Implants, crowns, rct's, extractions. None of which went the easy peasy way they are suppose to go. Love it when that happens. I worked till 6pm. Which makes for a long day when my day at home starts at 6am. So glad it's Thursday now and I can take on my SAHM role for the next 4 days. The best of both worlds. I've got it made :)

**photos are from our trip to New Brunswick. Just a mere snapshot of days away.

Pass the lube please

When your boss asks you to pass the 'lube' it just seems weird. Thank goodness it was over a patient receiving RCT (root canal treatment).

We use a product in the office called RC prep. Root Canal prep for those less dentally addicted than myself. It's a white 'lubey' type of material. So basic common sense can figure out it is for cleaning out the canals and preparing for obturating. A.K.A aiding in the cleaning out of all the junk that caused the so called RCT, and then filling the sucker back up with something so it's good as new again.

It's just I have never ever had a boss say that to me before in all my years sitting on the right hand side of the DDS (doctor dental surgery). Some just have a little less class than others I suppose.

And all in all this guy was just in filling in for my actual boss. The real guy would have never said that. Thank goodness. Total awkward moment.

So back to the fill in guy. He also used the whoha word today while conversing with our 830am patient. And not just once, but twice. In relation to the US election of all things. Ya, class....level negative.

Oh, and then he started snoring while resting his head on the lunch table today. My lunch was just inches away. Note to self: do not sit near boss at lunch time. Or maybe it was gas. I really wasn't sure to tell you the truth. I was just biting my tongue trying to ignore what I just heard and was thinking happy thoughts...happy thoughts.

With that said though, we ended up running late at the end of the day due to a scheduling mishap so I didn't say 'have a good night' to my last patient till 6pm rather than 5pm. He came back to tell me that I better add at least an extra hour onto my time for all the troubles. Now that my friends is where he gets an A+ for class.

Tommorrow though is his last day with us here in the city. That means that next week we will be back to the same old same old.

Hopefully the RCT's will be limited. And the term 'lube' will resort back to its proper label name when being requested.

You're ONE already

I can't believe it Carson, you are one already. It's cliche to say but...'where did the time go?' As I look at the clock it reads 959pm. You were sitting in my arms just minutes old. Beautiful you were. Beautiful you were. And you still are.

Over this past year you have grown and developed so much. You popped out your first tooth around 7 months. You started crawling at 8. Around 9 you gave up on all baby food. I am sure it was just so you could show your mama you were such a big boy. You just decided that you wanted to eat what you saw everyone else eating. And really, I don't blame you. I still can't figure out why your sister wouldn't eat much of anything but jarred puree beans till she was two. At 10 months you started cruising furniture and began saying mama. I really love you an extra special amount for that last one! And just while we were away you started walking. Your first steps at almost 12 months old. You are a determined one that is for sure. No rest for the weary.

You are always so happy and get excited when you see me or Daddy or your big sister come into the room. Even Gramma and Papa get you all excited with that big toothy grin you sport. And you know they love it when you do that....so keep it up mmm'kay?

We started you in swimming lessons this fall and you are just loving it. I'm kinda loving it too. I had no idea how tired swimming makes you! Just last week you started to enjoy being dunked. I know, shocking. But you did it twice with no tears and it totally made my day. You are growing up so fast. You also love when we get to use the littel slide. Weeeee....

And speaking of slides, the neighbours slide and swing set were a favorite of yours this past summer. Can't wait till we get you and your sister your own for next year. I am looking so forward to watching you play and discover and learn how things work. The swings. The slides. The sand. Yes, even the sand. All of it. I know you are going to love it.

We've had so much fun over this past year with you, and your sister has really taken to having you around too. You guys are like bread and butter. Can't have one without the other. She looks out for you all the time you know. Soon though, I think you are going to have to start looking out for her. With the rate you are growing you are going to be bigger than her in no time and well, she's going to need you when you are both in school I am afraid. Actually I am going to need you too look out for her and make sure that you keep the boys away. Deal? Great.

So ya, you are 27 pounds of pure joy. And of course some squishable goodness mixed in. I know, I know you weigh the same as your sister who is 2 years your senior. But, it's okay. You are going to be my rugby, football, basketball player. Or whoever and whatever you choose to be. Cause you know I will always love you no matter what you do.

During this year that you were born we has so much snow during the winter time that when your Dad shoveled the driveway he was throwing snow higher than his height. And that is kinda tall. Crazy! And the gas prices. Oh the gas prices. I think they are sitting at less right now than what they were the day we brought you home. It's an all time low from the 130's we had this summer. Yowza.

I can't wait for all the fun we are going to have together during this next year when you learn to walk on your own. To learn more words and begin talking. And most of all watching you growin all aspects of your little life.

Happy 1st Birthday Carson...
xo Mama xo

i'm baaaack

I was gone for a while. But now I am back. I know you are oh sooo happy. *insert chuckle here*

So we went away. Away for 10 days. With the kids in tow to visit their 'other' family. I say other like 'other' because well we don't get to see them very often so life always seems to be revolving around family and people here at home rather than those that are not near to us.

To fill some of you in who don't know the Legere family....hubby is from New Brunswick. I am from Ontario. His family is all there. Mine is all here. We rarely see his family. We rarely go a week without seeing mine. So we thought is was time to visit since Carson is nearing one and was only known through photos. And lets just say that photos are no comparison to the real thing. I think they would all agree he was worth meeting...hehe.

So anyways....we thought it important that our kids are able to spend time with their Grandparents and Aunties and Uncles and cousins and get to know them. And who are we kidding, we wanted to visit too.

We opted to fly since I being the bargain hunter I am found tickets for cheap. In cheap I mean, we wouldn't have been able to to drive for less. Yay on that one. Can you imagine. Two adults and two kids under 2 in a car for two days. I think I better end there cause the thought is already haunting me. The flight was great. Kayltin played. Carson slept. Hubby and I semi relaxed. Perfection.

We flew into Moncton. Did you know it is substantially cheaper to fly into there than Fredericton? Crazy. So, we flew into Moncton, rented a car and drove. We drove north, than south then east. Within our 10 days of course. I think it is safe to say we covered pretty much the whole province. Yowza!

The majority of our time was spent in Fredericton with Gramma Line and the family sans the cats. I don't know what it is with my relatives and cats. For some reason the two seem to go hand in hand. It's crazy. Really it is. Neither Ter or I are animal lovers and to top it off I am severely allergic to the little suckers. And besides they never seem to like me anyways. I guess that is a good thing.

We didn't do too many touristy things, but we did take in the Saturday morning market, the Children's Museum, and Pumpkin picking. Oh, and lest we forget out trip to the quarry. Hubby's step moms husband works there and it was a sight to see. Kaytlin was living her own little 'mighty machines' episode right there. In real life!

I think we took a few thousand photos while we were gone. Really. I am not kidding on that one. There are so many it may take me a day or two till I can compile some to put in a post to show you how much fun we had.

Until then.....

Busy, busy. Fun, fun

Today was  a busy one for us Legere's. Swimming classes promptly at 9am. Flowerbed making at 11am and picture hanging at 4pm. And now I am beat!

It's week two into our swimming  classes with the kiddos and they are love*ing it. As am I of course. The water was a little chilly this morning. Or so Carson and I both thought. But we warmed up to it. After the dunking of course. He freaked out a big with that today. But he got over it and then it was time to kick and splash and have some FUN. He even went down the slide today. That was big stuff for this little guy. So cute. Oh, and today I was the only Mom in the class. Come on Mama's where are you? Support here...support. I'm thinking that they must do some rotation with their other halves. Mine, not so willing. But that' s okay. I like the water and it's much easier to look after the kids in the water than out. That can be our little secret..tee hee :)
Kaytlin did exceptionally well in her class today as well. After our little ducky song that of course ends in a full submersion, she was a little teary and clingy. But then something snapped and she was all.....'okay lets swim'. Great. I thought I was going to have a 'velcro baby' for the rest of the class. That is what my sister-in-law says. I thought it was a brilliant term. Because really, it is oh so true to the core. Nothing like having a child clinging to you from the neck. Love.
And then the flowerbeds. I had the sod all cut from the week before and now all we needed to do was pull it back and lay out the ground and plant the shrubs. Sounds easy enough. It was a lot of work. Thanks to my parents and my sister-in-law we made it happen. And it looks beautiful. Now I really can't wait for winter to come and be gone so I can enjoy my flowers all spring and summer.
The next step in getting the front landscaping done is a concrete walkway and new steps. We had thought about doing some stamping work, but the prep work and cost involved in that is immense. Then the other day I saw something during one of my walks with the kids and I was all....'That is it. That is what we are going to do for our walkway.' It is called exposed aggregate and it is wonderful looking. I haven't seen much of it around either which is nice. At least in our neck of the woods. Yay.
And onto the picture hanging. After hubby's frustration with hanging stuff he'd thought he better leave it in better hands. Three cheers for my Dad...yay! We got two mirrors, 3 square iron pieces and two framed pieces of art hung in record time. Oh, and the top of the stair baby gate. It's only been sitting for a good month now at the top of the stairs. Beside the stairs. The house is that much more complete. Horray.

I AM Super Mom

So what happened in mid afternoon today totally warrents me to the 'super mom' title. I caught this thing, which I think we have concluded is a praying mantis for my dear daughter.
Kaytlin came running to me in the kitchen saying that there was a 'bug' on the sliding door window. I was like...okay, I will be there in a couple minutes.  She is facinated by bugs by the way. She finds them everywhere. I figured it was the typical fly, spider, ant or something of the like. Then I saw this thing. The whole plan was for me, aka, 'super mom' to catch this thing so she could show her friends.
But they weren't home. So instead we played on their swing set. Went for a few slide rides and swung to the sky, as Kaytlin likes to say. I think I can honestly say these two could live outdoors on a swing set. Sooooo can't wait till we get ours.
I am trying to figure hubby's new camera out. That thing is for serious picture takers. Which I obviously am not. Waaay too complicated. But low and behold I must have done something right cause this pic of Carson actually looks kinda good. Now if only he was looking at me. Next time.
.Kaytlin checking out her new found friend. Ummm...hello, do something will ya?

The whole novelty of this praying mantis creature was short lived for my girly. And after all that hard work of catching him I was kinda disappointed. Seriously, I was thisclose to not getting that thing in my tupperware. I know...tupperware. But I had nothing else. It's in the sterilize cycle as we speak. And, to top it off, I was freaking out about it the whole time. Inside of course. I am so not a bug person! Kaytlin then thought we should let him go so he could find his Mommy and Daddy. So off he went. She's so thoughtful. Even for the bugs. Gotta love that.
